Watching From a Distance

This message is based off of a Darren Thompson message. To many Christians out there want to be on the fence with showing the world their relationship with God. They are scared to show the world their love for God, but at church they are at the alter crying and receiving a good heavenly dose of Heaven. God doesn't want us to be fake, we should be the same everywhere we are, we should not act different at church compared to hanging out with friends. Of coarse I know that when hanging out with friends your not going to talk all about God and supernatural stuff, but it should be obvious that you are different then others. Jesus Christ is not a person we experience just in church, He's a person we can experience anywhere, from the highest mountain to the depths of the sea. He's everywhere!

The reason I call this blog "At a Distance" is this. To many people out there are "Following" Jesus at a distance. They are the christians who are following the crowd surrounding Jesus but just far away from behind him that no one would know that they are following Jesus. But yet the people closely following Jesus realize that that person  is following Jesus. We are coming to a day Saints where we can't just follow Jesus from a distance, we are coming to the day where we must be so close to Jesus in such intimate relationship that when He moves we move, and when he breaths we breath. Followers of Jesus should be obvious, I'm tired of Christians who are followers only when they are at church, but as soon as one of their unsaved friends show up they back away from the one who has saved them.   We have perfect union with Jesus in heaven, why would we stay at a distance to hold up a reputation to our friends.

It's time we stop following Jesus from a distance, where we can here is voice and see him, but it's time that we come closer to him, to hear his heart beat, to feel his breath of life on us. Jesus is calling those of us who are at a distance, "Come closer Son, everything I have I give to you, I love you with such a passion you can not even comprehend. Come closer." It's time that we come closer to our heavenly father, we have spent to much time watching the crowd and Jesus, we need to feel his heart beat!

A lot of preachers these days say that we need to be less radical so that the world isn't freaked out by us, they call their church to balance, rather then radical love. This is a poison to people, it tells them that if they stay at a distance it will help them lead the unsaved to him by pulling in the stragglers. This is completely not what Jesus wanted, he wanted a holy spirit possessed church that was so different to the world that it was obvious who they are and where their DNA comes from. Love is something this world wants and craves, they feed off of a perverted form of love like drugs, sex, alcohol when we hold the greatest love the world has ever known. It's a crime when the church hides the love of Jesus from the world, it's time we get closer to Jesus, so that those at a distance can be pulled into a new love.
