When people become born again, a lot of times someone tells the person "It's gonna be hard, you have to discipline yourself, your going to have to suffer for what Christ did, and you need to pick up that cross and carry the weight for the rest of your life!" Yeah its kind of a bummer to start off your salvation am I right? Yeah I am. Well guess what, IT'S ALL A SCANDAL!
People always tell new born christians that their life is going to be full of hard times and rock bottom moments. It's all wrong if someone's telling you that! The true stumbling block is the easiness of the cross. People can't understand the ease of resting because that's how they've always been taught. People need to hear the happy gospel that the Jesus brought and the Apostle Paul preached! The reason the cross is offensive is because it calls us to rest rather then work for our own righteousness. The fact is that people have been taught to become workaholics.
We see that Christ perfect work on the cross is scandalous because it is so good, it almost seems to good to be true. It is a stumbling block because it causes men to want to work their way to his perfect union. BUT THAT'S WRONG! HAHAHAH! We are called to rest in his finished work that is eternal! He wants us to have such a trust in his truth, like a child that trusts his mommy or daddy, they put their full trust in them. We have to realize that we are already there, when we are forgiven we have become a NEW CREATURE! A complete new being! It's so good!!! It's just so hard for people to take a drink of the new wine that God has given us. People try and hold the old testament with the new testament at the same time. THAT DOESN'T WORK! You can't hold new wine in old wine skins! It won't work because they're completely different!
